Hunt for unique species during your stay, including Axis deer and Mouflon sheep. The 90,000-acre island of Lana’i is home to the highest density of free-range Axis deer in the world. Hunters can expect to see hundreds of deer per day, and will spot and stalk either in a large, flat plain known locally as “the Serengeti,” or in the steep mountainous region that is heavily forested along the shores. Alternatively, for long range shooters, hunters can opt to set up at shooting benches strategically positioned throughout the island.
Unlike international destinations, it is easy to transport your personal firearms to this exotic domestic destination.
Lana’i is also home to a world-class sporting clays course as well as archery, pistol, and rifle ranges. The sporting clays course is extremely picturesque, and can be enjoyed by beginner and expert shooters alike.

Yet another perk of hunting on Lana’i is having Bob the Butcher dress your game.
“There’s a small house in Lana’i City with an archway made from antler sheds and wild sheep skulls, under which a sign is hung that reads Bob the Butcher. Bob is a classically trained chef who’d had enough of the restaurant rat race and wanted to take it down a notch. Without a doubt, he’s the most talented game butcher I’ve ever met. It’s nice to think that every game animal gets processed with such expertise, but it is especially good to see Axis deer treated with that care because, if I were to rank the best venison I’ve tasted, Axis deer would be right at the top of the list.” — Field & Stream, June 2019
